On the ground floor of Media Evolution City, in the midst of a constant flow of people, meetings and ideas, you’ll find the offices of design and communications agency Kolossal. Here, lighting is more than just design or function — it is an active part of the work environment, the brand, and the experience for both employees and passersby.
When Kolossal chose to install Biocentric lighting from BrainLit, the ambition was clear:
to create a carefully considered lighting environment that aligns with the thoughtfully designed interior. A workplace shaped to cater to human biological needs. The new office space has limited access to natural daylight and few larger windows — something the new lighting installation has more than compensated for.
– Today, we know that light affects far more than our vision. It influences how we feel, how focused we are, and how well we maintain energy throughout the day. For us, choosing lighting that actually supports health and wellbeing was the obvious choice, says Martin Sandström, CEO of Kolossal.
Light that follows the day — and the human body
Traditional office lighting has primarily focused on meeting visual and ergonomic requirements. But our need for light is not static. Light influences our internal clock — the circadian rhythm that regulates sleep, alertness and energy — and needs to vary throughout the day for the body to function optimally.
Biocentric lighting from BrainLit is developed to mirror the natural shifts of daylight in intensity and color temperature. The result is a lighting environment that supports both concentration and recovery, and that can easily be adapted to different needs throughout the workday.
– Many of us spend most of our time indoors, in front of screens, where we are expected to stay focused and perform at a high level all day. In that context, it’s not enough for the lighting to simply “work.” It needs to actively contribute to energy, focus and wellbeing at work, Martin Sandström continues.
– After a few months, we experienced improved concentration and more stable energy levels. The classic afternoon dip has noticeably decreased.

A visible installation — from the inside and out
Kolossal’s office is located at street level, making the lighting installation clearly visible to the surrounding environment. The dynamic light creates a vivid contrast to the building’s more traditional office spaces and sparks curiosity among visitors and passersby.
– The lighting has become part of how we are perceived. It draws attention. People stop, look and ask what feels different — and that becomes part of the story about our brand and what we believe matters in the workplace, says Martin Sandström.
A conscious choice for everyday life — and the future
For Kolossal, this investment is not about technology for technology’s sake, but a strategic decision that connects workplace quality, brand identity and responsibility. The lighting is integrated into daily operations, stable, flexible and adaptable to how the team works.
– When I truly understood how crucial light is to how we feel and function during the day, the decision was obvious. The installation was very smooth, and the light recipe has been easily fine-tuned based on how we work. It feels both thoughtful and flexible, concludes Martin Sandström, CEO of Kolossal.
